"Today the water header Tajo finally ends in Lisbon. " This is the message from members of the Citizen Network for a New Water Culture in the Tagus, to pour clean water header in different public events in Aranjuez, Toledo, Talavera Queen's Valdecañas and Azambuja (Portugal), where this weekend the V Conference held by Tajo Live: In defense of the Tagus and its rivers.
(13-5-2011) On a journey filled with emotion and symbolism, the representatives of the Citizen Network for a New Culture of the Tagus Valley and its rivers, which brings together over one hundred collective the river Tagus in Spain and Portugal, have been pouring clean water from the headwaters of the river Tagus, on the stretches of river in different coastal locations. With this act of protest, citizen groups draw attention to the sorry state it is the Tagus river and much of its tributaries, claiming for the same clean water and sufficient flow.
"Since the economic and political interests do not let the clean water from the headwaters flow through the Tagus to Portugal, we, the citizens of this basin, with our own hands, we reach New clean water from the Tagus in Aranjuez, Toledo, Talavera de la Reina, Valdecañas, and Azambuja in Portugal ", declared the representatives of the Red Ciudadana del Tajo.
The Coastal Towns Association Entrepeñas and Buendia was responsible for collecting clean water header, and deliver it to members Tajo network, so that did arrive, at various stages, to Portugal. Especially moving was the delivery of clean water in the Puente Romano de Talavera de la Reina, who has attended by the Mayor and representatives of different political parties, where three generations have returned Talavera, symbolically, clean water to the river . These acts are the precursors of the V Conference by Tajo Live: In defense of the rivers Tajo and held this weekend in the Portuguese village of Azambuja, organized by the Citizens Network for a Nueva Cultura del Tajo / Tejo and rivers, and the Movement Hair Tejo.
